My randomiser word was 'Divide' so obviously my intention was to communicate this idea in various ways. At this stage in my Graphic Design career I'm not yet aware of how I can look beyond the most obvious solutions, not that this means I didn't try. I communicated the word 'Divide' by quite simply dividing the letters in various ways, before rearranging and replacing various elements. Quite literal, I know, but it gets the job done.
How well does this answer the brief?
The brief states: 'produce a set, series or sequence of ten letterforms that explore and communicate your interpretation of the word that you have selected from the randomiser'
I can't really judge how well I completed the brief, that's for someone else to decide, but if I was asked if it resolves the brief, well then yes it does.
How well has the idea been visually explored?
I had a bit of a mind block for the first couple of days as I'm still not really used to this way of working. After this though I really got stuck in, I felt like I was producing a significant amount of ideas in order to produce a decent end product.
What are the strengths of the resolution?
I feel that they work better as a series of ideas rather than a set of finished images. And I am happy with how they work as ideas. The original letterform in itself I think looks impressive, so I reckon that contributes towards a pleasing result.
How could it be improved?
- more time spent rendering the final copies.
- more digital manipulation
-A greater set of ideas from the word go, to leave me with more room to perfect the final images.
